IWC Portugieser

In 18-carat yellow gold the Portugieser carries the weight its origins imply. In the late 1930s two Portuguese merchants asked IWC for a wristwatch as accurate as a marine chronometer, which meant fitting a pocket watch movement, which meant a case far larger than the era found acceptable. The proportions became the point. The railway-track chapter ring and slender leaf hands are unchanged.
