Blancpain Fifty Fathoms

Blancpain created the Fifty Fathoms in 1953 at the request of French combat divers, and it is generally accepted as the first modern dive watch — predating every rival in the category, including the obvious one. The in-house calibre runs three series-coupled barrels for a five-day reserve, with a silicon balance spring and a free-sprung balance adjusted by gold screws. Blancpain has never made a quartz watch.
