The Pilot's Mark descends from the Mark 11, the navigation watch IWC built for the RAF starting in 1948, so accurate the service kept it in first-line use for decades. At 40mm the soft-iron inner cage that shields the movement from magnetism is the same defensive engineering the RAF specified, adapted for a clean three-hand civilian dial.
