IWC Portugieser Chronograph

The Portugieser began in the late 1930s with a request from two Portuguese merchants who wanted a wristwatch as accurate as a marine chronometer — which meant fitting a pocket watch movement, which meant a case far larger than the era considered acceptable. The proportions became the point. This 41mm steel chronograph keeps the railway-track chapter ring and slender leaf hands, driven by an IWC-manufactured chronograph calibre visible through the sapphire caseback.
