The crown-protecting bridge is the whole story of the Luminor. Panerai built it in the 1950s for the Italian Navy's frogmen: a lever that clamps the crown against its gasket, so a watch could survive depths that would flood a conventional screw-down. It was a military secret before it was a design. At 44mm the cushion case remains unmistakable across a room.
