IWC Portugieser Automatic

The Portugieser began in the late 1930s with a request from two Portuguese merchants who wanted a wristwatch as accurate as a marine chronometer — which meant fitting a pocket watch movement, which meant a case far larger than the era found acceptable. The proportions became the point. The railway-track chapter ring and slender leaf hands are unchanged, driven by an IWC-manufactured automatic calibre.
