IWC Portugieser Automatic

In the late 1930s two Portuguese merchants asked IWC for a wristwatch as accurate as a marine chronometer, which meant fitting a pocket watch movement, which meant a case far larger than the era found acceptable. The proportions became the point. At 42.4mm this automatic execution keeps the railway-track chapter ring and slender leaf hands unchanged, in steel.
