Montblanc is better known globally for its pens than its watches, but the watch division has spent nearly two decades building genuine manufacture credentials, centred on the Minerva workshop in Villeret. Minerva's watchmakers still hand-finish column-wheel chronograph calibres using methods — hand-bevelled bridges, manually adjusted escapements — that predate CNC-era mass production. Montblanc has kept production intentionally limited for these pieces, in contrast to the far larger volumes produced at its Le Locle facility, allowing the brand to offer both accessible everyday watches and small-series chronographs from the same house.
