Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe
5054 0140 O52A
Blancpain created the Fifty Fathoms in 1953 at the request of French combat divers, and it is generally accepted as the first modern dive watch — predating every rival in the category. The Bathyscaphe is its more compact sibling, here in ceramic, a material that stays black and unmarked where steel would show every year of wear. The in-house calibre 1315 runs on three series-coupled barrels for a five-day reserve, with a silicon balance spring and a free-sprung balance adjusted by gold screws.
