The Hi-Beat calibre inside this Grand Seiko oscillates at 36,000 vibrations per hour — ten beats a second — buying resistance to positional error and a smoother sweep than a conventional movement delivers. Building a movement that runs that fast without sacrificing longevity is genuinely difficult, and few manufactures attempt it. The 40mm steel case is Zaratsu-polished by hand, with diamond-cut indexes applied individually.
