In black ceramic the IWC pilot's watch becomes what the Top Gun programme intended: matte, non-reflective, and resistant to the temperature swings and pressure changes of a fighter cockpit. At 41mm the case is genuinely wearable, and the dial follows the 1940s observation-watch grammar — oversized numerals, a triangle at twelve, nothing else. A soft-iron inner cage shields the movement from magnetic fields.
